1993 - 2018
Dustin James "DJ" Brunty, 24, of Huntington, W.Va., departed this earth unto the Heavenly Kingdom on Monday, May 21, 2018 in St. Mary’s Medical Center after a long illness due to a motorcycle accident. He was born on November 6, 1993 in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., a son of Shannon McNeil of Lesage and James Brunty of Ojai, Ca.. He is also survived by his daughter Peyton Brunty of Ona, W.Va.; one sister, Meghan (Harland) Henry of Lesage; one brother, Joshua (Melissa) Brunty of Ojai, CA.; grandparents, Sharon and Ike McCloud of Milton, W.Va., and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ace and Nancy Brunty and great grandparents, Douglas and Carrie Skeens. DJ was a fearless, funny and carefree young man. He will be remembered by timeless stories of jokes and pranks that he devised in order to evoke laughter. He loved his family fiercely and enjoyed many hours of playing dress up, having tea parties and entertaining his little girl in whatever manner she saw fit for the day. She was his partner in crime, the love of his life and his world. His memory will be carried on through her. DJ looked up to his older brother, looked after his mother and looked forward to arguing with his big sister. He had many friends and seemed to know everyone. He was loyal to his circle (T-Sharks for Life!) and had a way about him that drew you in and made you feel special. He loved to ride his motorcycle and felt the weight of the world lifted by the feel of the wind, the sound of the engine and the freedom of the journey. DJ is now free from the burdens of this earthly life and is taking his eternal [ONE LAST LAP] in Heaven. The family would like to thank Dr. McFarland and Beka Copley for their kindness, concern, compassion and caring throughout DJ’s injury and rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to the Shepherd Center; 2020 Peachtree Rd. NW; Atlanta, Ga. 30309. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton with Chaplain Doug Pendleton officating. Entombment will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Friends may visit after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Prayers of comfort to the family and friends. Many good memories of him playing at my house with my son Alan. The best memory was him eating a whole bunch of mussels during dinner with us. I asked if he liked them that much. He said no, just wanted to take the seashells home! Prayers
