Edward Irvin Blankenship “Eddie”, 63 years young, of Huntington, WV formerly of Beech Creek, WV departed this life Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 11, 1955 at Williamson Memorial Hospital son of the late Bill and Mary Lou Blankenship, who were from of Beech Creek, WV. He attended Matewan High School and graduated in 1973. He was employed at Armco Steel of Ashland, KY for 20 years. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his son Dow Edward Blankenship; and his nephew Shane Winters. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend Tammy Cooper; stepdaughter Brandi Cooper Dailey; granddaughter Makiah Dailey; siblings Linda Hatfield of Meador, WV, Buddy Blankenship and Louise Diamond of Ragland, WV, Peggy (Terry) Davis of South Point, Ohio, Bobbi (Tim) Comer of Delbarton, WV, and Donna Robin (Raymond) Joplin of Matewan, WV; goddaughter and nephew Tasha and Raymond Joplin, II of Matewan, WV; one uncle Ray (Judy) Kennedy of Beech Creek, WV; and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply. Per his wishes, his cremation was entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio and a service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Woodmere Cemetery in Huntington, WV. Following the service, a reception will be held at Ritter Park. Eddie is loved by many and will be missed. Until we meet again, brother, we love you.
