William Brooks Damron, 82, of South Point, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born June 22, 1936 in Huntington, WV son of the late Carl Preston Damron and Maybelle Conrad Damron. He was also preceded in death by five sisters Eva Powers, Frances Flesher, Juanita Kincaid, Betty Porter and Norma Garretson; two brothers Carl Preston Damron, Jr and Laundle “Chuck” Damron; sister-in-law Ann Brown; and brother-in-law Robert Wheeler. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mildred “June” Wheeler Damron; children Kevin Damron, Lisa Damron Brown (Randy) and Gary Ross; grandchildren Justin Hamm (Kesha), Josh Hamm (Shayna), Alissa Hamm and fiance’ Josh Browning, Jessica Brown Malone (Corey) and Cindy Whitman; great grandchildren Braelyn Brooks Hamm, Aria Brooks Hamm, Rebekah Whitman, Joseph Oneal, Jr and Ashton Oneal; one brother Ernie Damron (Arlene); sisters-in-law Betty Damron, Colletta Rose, Kay Chacos and Phyllis Snider; brother-in-law Richard Wheeler; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a very loving man and will be greatly missed by friends and family. He was a member of Sheridan Freewill Baptist Church and a retired machinist for CSX railroad. He was also a volunteer driver for the VA Medical Center. He was an U.S. Army Veteran and also an U.S. Air Force reserve member. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, NE Grayson, KY (I-64 to connector Rt. 23 – 2 miles off interstate on left). A memorial dinner will be held at Chesapeake United Methodist Church 501 2nd Avenue Chesapeake, Ohio following the service. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
