Inez Carolyn Eaton SmithInez Carolyn Eaton Smith, of Chesapeake, Ohio, moved on to the Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Rev. Bill Flannery and Rev. Anthony Thomas. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at the funeral home. Carolyn was born in the Spring of 1929 in Chesapeake, Ohio, a daughter of the late John B. Eaton and Inez Thacker Eaton. She was preceded in death by her sisters Emma Belle Sheets and Johnna Jean Jones, brother-in-law Harold Sheets, former husband Robert G. Smith, and granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Smith. Carolyn is survived by her sons Ronald G. Smith (Alice) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and John S. Smith (Susan) of Chesapeake, Ohio, grandsons Ryan Gene Smith (Amy) of Arnold, Maryland, Jason Murle Smith (Jill) of Crimora, Virginia, Jeremy Eaton Smith (Kylie) of Centerburg, Ohio, Gary Michael Smith (Donna) of Coal Grove, Ohio, David Samuel Smith of Marietta, Ohio, and granddaughter Leslie “Cate” Smith of Hibbing, Minnesota, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also grieving are Carolyn’s second family – the aides, nurses and staff at Ridgeway Unit of Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky – who provided for Carolyn’s daily care for the past few years. They loved Carolyn and she loved them. Carolyn was a retired 3rd grade teacher at Chesapeake East Elementary school where she taught for many years. She also taught 2nd grade at Burlington Elementary. She was a graduate of Marshall University. A member of Fifth Avenue Baptist in Huntington, West Virginia, she also had many friends at Steele Memorial United Methodist in Barboursville, West Virginia, and before moving to Kingsbrook was attending her childhood church, Bethel Chapel of Chesapeake, OH. She enjoyed travel, square dancing, keeping up with her grandchildren and many other activities. Carolyn’s family and friends will cherish many memories and experiences with her. She is sadly missed now, but she is in the hands of our loving and good Savior. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
