Charlene Fern Day, 77, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at home. She was born June 13, 1941 in Catlettsburg, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Jay Cantrell and Fern W. Ellis; her husband, David Lee Day; infant daughter Melody Dawn Day; one sister Sharon Lee Heller; mother-in-law and father-in-law Annelee Day Vaughn and Edward Day; four step sisters; and two step brothers. She was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church and a retired sales clerk with Elder Beerman with 30 years of service. She is survived by two sons David L., Jr. (Charlene) Day of Oklahoma and Steven E. (Debbie) Day of Huntington, WV; one daughter Shirley Ann (Ryan) Freeman of Scottown, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two brothers Eddie J. Cantrell, Jr of New Mexico and Thomas C. Cantrell of Chesapeake, Ohio; three half brothers Phillip Ellis of Scottown, Ohio, Michael Ellis of Ironton, Ohio and Benjamin Ellis of Chesapeake, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor Mark Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Freeman Cemetery, Scottown, Ohio. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
