George  TusseyGeorge Tussey, 83, of Catlettsburg KY passed away Saturday January 19, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington WV.Mr. Tussey was born March 7, 1935 in Boyd County, a son of George R. and Willa Belle Allen Tussey.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald H. Tussey of Marietta OH and Joseph R Tussey of Dunnellon FL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita Fields Tussey and four children:. Lee Ann Tincher (Joe) of New Albany, IN, Thomas Allen Tussey (Laura) of Catlettsburg KY, Susan Kay Tussey (Tina) of Lebanon Junction KY, Michael Dean Tussey of Catlettsburg KY and one grandchild, Lauren Audrey Tussey, as well as a brother, Samuel Tussey (Brenda) of Ashland KY and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. George was a lifelong resident of Boyd County. He served in the US Navy for 7 years where he was a deep sea diver and electrician while earning the position of Chief Petty Officer. He worked at Armco Steel in the maintenance department and became the President of his local union 1865 United Steelworkers. He then accepted a position as an International USWA representative fighting for workers rights until retirement in 1993. Furthering his public service, he was elected as chairman of the Boyd County Democrat Executive committee and loved his political activity throughout his life. Memorial service will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 from 5-7pm at the United Steelworkers Hall, 734 Carter Ave Ashland KY. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity.
