Gary   SawyersGary Sawyers, 77, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord and the love of his life while visiting his daughter in Voorhees, New Jersey, on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Gary was born November 13, 1946 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Kermit and Ruth Elkins Sawyers. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Huntington. He loved God, his children, and grandchildren. He was proud of the country he served. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Sawyers, three brothers, Richard, Roger and Kermit Sawyers; two sisters, Sandy Taylor and Elizabeth Merz. He is survived by his children, Gary D. Sawyers Jr. (Heather) of Huntington, WV; Michelle Cooper (Michael) of Williamstown, NJ; one brother, Leroy (Connie) Sawyers of Catlettsburg, Ky.; six grandkids, Mason, Morgan (Ryan), Tate, Kenzie, Mikey, Savannah and Keagan; five-great-grandkids, Keelie, Hunter, Laney, Mac, and Cade; a very special cousin Helen Coeyman of Huntington; and several other family members and close friends who will miss him dearly. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, by Pastor Dennis Morrello. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 139, Milton. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is assisting the family. I am so sorry for your loss. Gary was such a wonderful man. He kept us all entertained at Highlawn Place. He will be missed dearly.
