Darrell Blake was one of a kind. We did some good work together and I will always remember him as one of the sharpest, funniest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He could even make a bad joke funny. And even though he has gone on, his memory will always bring a smile to his many friends. That's a fine legacy, Brother Blake. Ginny Mahan

Dear Diane & Family: I send you most regretably my heartfelt condolances on learning of Darell's passing. There are people who we meet in life that have a profound impact on us, Darell was won who did that to me. I shall always remember his humor and sincerity of Brotherhood to me personally. His love of his family came before all else as we discussed many times. There is no greater calling in life than to serve others as Brother Darrell did in his office as West Virgina Legislative Board Chairman. Diane, Beverly and I want you to know that our friendship and interacting with both of you at various functions was a most enjoyable part of our life. You are most welcome to visit anytime. God bless each of you in your family as we thank God for Darell's life amoung us.

Darrel, well know in his childhood days as Poody, was my childhood friend, along with his sister "Sissy." I read the Herald Dispatch newspaper, including the obituary page everyday and am just saddened to read about the death of my childhood friend. Over the years I often did not see Pood unless at a Marshall Football game or with his brother-in-law and wife, Rob and Amy Short. To all the Blake family and the many friends that we shared over the years, please accept our condolences from the Grimes' Family (Conley, Jean Ann, Darren and Kevin) hear in Richmond. God Bless you Darrell, I'll certainly miss you! Darrell's Uncle Bob was my Dad's best friend for many, many years. Bill and Rita, his parents were just like my parents. May he rest in eternal peace.

Diane, We never got to meet you but I think we spoke on the phone once or twice. Darrell and us were good friends. Once in a while in the past when he would be working in the shops he would call just to pass on a few good jokes. You knew it was him when he started with "Did you hear the one?". We live at Malcom Springs and he always blew his whistle when he went by. My uncle who was an engineer but was killed in a car accident in the 60's did the same thing when I was growing up at Roach and Darrell's doing it always brought back memories and helped fill in the gap. We had noticed lately that we haven't heard him and thought maybe it was because we were not home at the right time. He was one of the few people that we called a good friend. We will think of him often when the trains go by and miss him. Our thoughts are with you. Knowing him we know you have lost a good friend as well as a husband. Feel free to call anytime if you need someone to talk to. Nancy and Mike Rush
