Charles Allen Rakes Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1940 - 2004 Mr. Charles Allen Rakes, Jr., 64, of Huntington passed away on Thursday July 8, 2004 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Wayne County the son of the late Charles Allen, Sr. and Effie Anderson Rakes. He is survived by his wife Shelva Adkins Rakes, two sons, Henry Rakes of Huntington, Kenneth Allen Rakes of Ironton, Ohio, one daughter, Samantha Lawson of Huntington. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kathy Rakes, John Lawson, Chris Rakes, a great grandchild, Nicole Lawson, two sisters, Annie Giscombe of Huntington, Jean Whishome of Tennesse, and one brother, Ernest Rakes of Lavalette. He was an electrician. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Henson Mortuary with Rev. Ed Hood officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation will be on Monday, July 12, 2004 from 6-9 p.m. at Henson Mortuary. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.Timeformemory.com/Henson.

Charlie and I were good friends for many years. He will be sadly missed. My sympathy goes out to his wife and family.
