STEPHEN SHAWN MARTIN, 44, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Ona, husband of Debbie M. Martin, died Saturday, Oct. 30. He was a police officer with the Wichita, Kansas Police from 1990 to 2005. He was born Dec. 4, 1960 in Sharon, Pa., to Clarence Martin and Sue Sarrett Hendrickson. He attended Milton High School. In addition to his wife, survivors include; his father and wife, Clarence and Sharon Martin of Barboursville, and mother, Sue S. Hendrickson of Summersville, W.Va.; children, Kane, Garrett and Shawna Martin of California; brothers, Anthony Martin of Jacksonville, Fla., Timothy Martin of Jacksboro, Tenn., Damon Eric Martin of Bluefield, W.Va., stepbrother, John Cutright of Pbi1adelphia_ Pa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1978-1982, protecting the Presidential retreat fence line at Camp Davjd, as well as serving on the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team and protecting the State department while at the 8th and I Barracks in Washington, D.C. All the while, he excelled in the martial arts, achieving a 2nd Degree black belt. Funeral noon Monday at Henson Mortuary, with the Rev. Brent Gibson officiating.
