We were out of town and returned to read about Janice. We were shocked to say the least. Good memories remain of always looking for the two of you when we went for coffee. She was a wonderful lady.

Uncle Tony, I cannot express the shock and sadness I felt when I was told of the passing of Aunt Jan. Although we live far apart, as I have told you many times, the distance has never kept you far from our thoughts. Jill and I were so looking forward to your upcoming move to be closer allowing us to visit more. Although we were not able to be in your daily lives, it was more than evident during our visits, that Jan was doing what she loved to do. I know there is great sadness in your heart with her passing and only time will make it more bearable. I cannot help but think of all the children who will miss her experience and caring she felt for them. To those she taught in years past, they may never know how much she truly cared. Her classroom was never far from her mind. I saw this each time we had a chance to share some time together. Know that we will always be there to help you or talk when you feel up to it. Dillon and I are looking forward to sharing some time with you, stomping around the woods. I often relate things to music and what comes to mind is a song which talks about living like you were dying. I know you and Aunt Jan did no less. Keep those nearly 35 years of memories safely tucked away. In Love and sadness, The Higginbotham Family.

Our family has been deeply saddened with the passing of Mrs. Cox. She truly provided the foundation of learning in both of our boys. Alex is currently a student in Mrs. Cox's class and Kyle currently in second grade was also one of her kindergarten students. Mrs. Cox exhibited such enthusiasm and dedication to not only her students but to all her knew her. I am truly grateful for all that she provided the boys in their beginning years. She showed great pride for the love of teaching. We all will miss her tremendously. We are blessed to have known her and will cherish her always! May God be with you and your family.

Dr. Cox, I was truly in shock when I read Janice's obituary in the newspaper on Tuesday and I'm sorry I could not come and express my condolences in person. Janice was a wonderful person who loved life and working with children. She taught all three of my children in her early days with Head Start and I vividly remember all the games and activities you and she made for the children. She was always upbeat and ready to try something new. I'm sure you will miss her and so will everyone who's life she touched.

My child had the blessing of being in Mrs. Cox's Kindergarten class last year. He thought the world of her as did I for making that transition from home all day to school most of the day. She knew exactly what each child needed for them to learn. My child had the best start in school a mother could ever hope for, because of her. She was a true blessing for all who knew her. My son still talked about her all the time even though she wasn't even his teacher this year. If he had a problem he went to her. I am so thankful he had her to go to . She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her. All her family will be in our prayers.

Mrs. Cox was an individual who touched the lives of so many young children. Her passion for education will live on with each child she had in her class through the years. All of my children each had the opportunity to learn not only their ABC's but about how to become a their own person in her class. Having twins is a blessing and Mrs. Cox although not overwhelmed with the idea of having both the boys in the same class allowed them to do so.I admired her to take on that challenge. I had the pleasure to be sitting with her during the christmas play this past year and sharing stories about how time seems to fly. She actually admitted that she had a hard time telling them apart when they were younger but how proud she was of them becoming individuals yet being twins. We will miss her. Her family will miss her. The children who had the pleasure of being in her classroom will miss her. People who become teachers have a special calling.Janice Cox had that calling and did it well.

We were deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Cox. She was an excellent teacher and so dedicated in the teaching of all children. We have two sons, Christopher and Bradley. Mrs. Cox was Bradley's Kindergarten teacher this year, and Christopher was also fortunate enough to have her as his teacher when he was in Kindergarten. They both learned so much from her. Mrs. Cox instilled in them a desire to learn and to do their best. She especially inspired them in their reading. We thought so much of Mrs. Cox and are truly grateful that our children had the benefit of being two of her students. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts. There will always be a void at Hite-Saunders without her presence. To her family, we are truly sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. May you be blessed with the peace and assurance that life is eternal.

I had the pleasure of doing my Reading Block experience in the Fall with Mrs. Cox. She helped to make my experience one that I will always remember! I will miss her and our wonderful talks that we had each day after school. She had such a kind and generous heart and it is so hard to believe that she is gone. To her family, I am truly sorry for your loss of such a wonderful lady. She has touched my life with her friendship and I know that she has also touched the lives of so many other people that she has come in contact with. I will always hold a warm place in my heart and a smile on my face when I think of my time with her. I will always be one of her "Girls!!"

We are so shocked and saddened. My son and I were looking forward to the upcoming year with great anticipation of her being his kindergarten teacher. I once observed her walking a crying child, with her arm around him, from the front door of the school toward her classroom (as his mother reluctantly left on the first day of school). It was very touching. My goodness what an influence and legacy this fine lady has left. I'm sorry my son will miss her guidance. What a special person whose love and influence touched so many just beginning their journey. God Bless You on yours, Janice.

Mrs. Cox was a dedicated, dynamic teacher with a love for her profession and her students. I truly enjoyed working with Mrs. Cox and her student teachers. She will truly be missed but will live on through her students and those she helped in the teaching profession. She touched many lives and was an inspiration to those who knew her. Joann Hurley

We are deeply saddend by the loss of a wonderful wonderful lady. She has made a difference in thousands of lives. She still kept up with Justin who is now moving on to high school and because she had had class with Jay Leno in college, and Justin is always trying to be funny, they teased that when Justin took The Leno Show over, she would be his first guest. She was always so kind to Jessica, she would even call to tell me Jess was sick after she was in older grades. We will think of her and Mr.Cox always, every year they would visit my fathers booth at the Pumpkin Festival and bring her wooden findings to school to share with all of her children. We are so sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We are so deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Cox. She was the Kindergarten teacher to my two oldest children, Hope and Garrett. They loved her very much. Even after graduating out of classroom, Mrs Cox alway asked about them when I saw her. My kids would get so excited when we saw her out in public, ususally at Borders or Target. They would just giggle when I brought them their lunch to school and Mrs Cox would "steal" a french fry. Mrs Cox will be greatly missed by many. We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Charlie, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Janice's unexpected death. You have lost your best friend, your true soul mate. She certainly lived a full, beneficial life and I am sure she seized every last moment to share with those around her. You were both always so generous and kind to Bob and me and I will treasure both your friendships. Although so shocking and devastating to you, what a wonderfully peaceful way to go--no fear or pain. Janice left you far too soon, but you can never feel any regret over not doing all you could together--that will sustain you; I know. Love, Bonnie Maddox
