THELMA R. KESSLER, 98, of Huntington died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Morris Memorial Nursing Home, Milton. She was born June 30, 1904, in Webster County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph C. and Delora Kagy Kessler. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Henson Mortuary. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, with family members conducting the services. Miss Kessler was a retired schoolteacher in Lincoln County, and graduated from Marshall University, where she was a member of Theta Sigma Upsilon Sorority. She also served as District Treasurer for the W.Va. Federation of Woman’s Clubs. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Huntington. In the 1950s she changed her career after studying accounting. She held a position in the Marshall University Finance Office from 1954 until her retirement in 1969. Survivors include a niece, Sally Icard of Patriot, Ohio; nephew, William K. Dickson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by a niece, Mrs. Betty Plyburn and a sister, Terzah Kessler Dickson. Also surviving are great-nieces and nephews Jack Icard, Jeff Icard, Debbie Plyburn Somerville, James Plyburn, Alice Dickson, David Dickson and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday. Consign my body to earth, for I have served it well and my soul to heaven for eternal care.
