ERNEST E. "GENE" WILCOX, 75, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. David Lemming officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Huntington, W.Va., son of the late Rev. Clayton and Erma Smallridge Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox retired from CSX Transportation with 42 years of service; was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; and was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Glendora "Dodie" Wilcox; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Phyllis Wilcox of Hurricane, W.Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Paul Boster of Proctorville, Ohio; a sister, Lois Blake of Proctorville, Ohio; grandchildren Scott Grant, Kristi Hargis, Amy Wilcox, Melissa Wilcox and Stacy Boster; and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Bryanna, Caleigh Grant and Tiah Hargis. Friends may from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, and one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewis Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.
