JAMES EDWARD ATKINS,71, of Huntington, WV., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Morries Memorial Nursing Home, Milton, WV. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1 at HENSON MORTUARY, Pea Ridge, by the Rev. Danny Ford. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV. He was born April 1, in Orgas (Boone County, WV.), a son of the late Kenna Virgil and Hallie Mae Massey Atkins. He was a field office manager for a construction company. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Teays Valley, and Western Star Lodge #11, A.F.A.M., Guyandotte. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Sue Washburn Atkins; a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy Anne and Paul Miller of Morgantown, WV; a sister, Linda Cadle of Richmond, VA.; four brothers, Eugene, Delmer, Howard, Jerry and Kenna Adtkins Jr., all of Cleveland, OH; and a grandson, Griffin Miller of Morgantown.
