Hey papaw. How do you like your new home? I know it's been a while since I've talked to you, and I'm sorry. I miss you so much and love you with all of my heart. I never forget you and mamaw Joyce and I never forget about Kay either. I miss all three of you and I wish I could see you and mamaw one last time. I hardly can even remember what she looks like because I was so young when she past away. But I'll never forget what my papaw looks like. I miss when me and daddy and Aaron came over and had Papa John's pizza and watched football and the Super Bowls. It was our tradition. Those are the memories I love the most. Everytime I think about it, I smile. I miss when me and Kay did scrapbooking and played games. I miss it all.. Things aren't the same but I know that when I come to Heaven, you and mamaw Joyce are going to be right there waiting for me. I love you papaw..Always(:

I'm so sorry to hear about Dan Toney. I've lived in California for the last 40 years but went to Crossroads Methodist Church with Dan when he was a young man. I was 3 years older than he and found out later that I was his idol when he knew me. He told me that storyb when I happened to meet him in a store with my wife back in the 1980's. Well, Dan you have always been MY IDOL since I found out you were a Teacher. My life is so much better because of the Teachers I had growing up at Beverly Hills Jr High and Huntington East High. Dan was one of the people you meet in life that you just can't help but like and always remember. What an IDOL he must have become to so many lives he touched. God Bless you Dan and your loved ones. Dain

Mr. Toney was one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He taught me so much stuff. He was one of my favorite teachers in the whole school. He taught everything so well to everybody in the whole school. He will be remembered as a teacher and coach at barboursville middle school. I will surely remember him for the rest of my life because he was my first teacher that died during a school year since I have been in school. So I hope all of his family are doing ok since the death of himsef Mr. Toney. Love, Celia Morales (6th Grade)

Dear Friends and Family, Mr. Toney was an inspiration to each and every person who came in contact with him. His inspiring words will linger on, and remain in the minds and hearts of others, and be as though a memory of him. Mr. Toney was a romodel to so many lives, and a great teacher as well. I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to have him for my computer class. He fought very hard to do what he believed in, and kepted on going when he was at his worst. The dear Lord has a plan that is firm and steadfast, and now his suffering is over. There will always be a reason for everything that happens in this walks of life, and it was just his time to go. May the Lord be with all of you through the good and bad times, and may you find these words to comfort your heart.

I met Dan in math 180 class my first year at Marshall in 1967. We enjoyed many conversations about math and sports mostly. After school I would run into him from time to time at a restaurant or Wal-Mart and he would always say HI, How are you doing! and talk for a minute. One thing I remember about class at Marshall is when they would call roll, they would usually say Dan Toney and everyone would turn and look for Dan D'Antoni. My prayers are with his family.

Dan was a classmate, a neighbor, a fellow musician, and most of all a friend. Back in the Guyan Estates days in the sixties, we got together, and Dan played drums and I played guitar. We weren't the next rock sensation, but boy, we had a lot of fun. When I left Barboursville after college, I lost touch with Dan, but I will never forget the good times we had together. O. J.

Mr.and Mrs. Toney Dan was a great friend and co-worker of mine. We became friends in the 7th grade at Beverly Hills Junior High. We went our separate ways after the 10th grade until we connected again at Barboursville Junior High as teachers amd coaches starting in 1975. I loved the times we had together talking sports especially our beloved "Thundering Herd. I also really enjoyed my time coaching basketball and track with Dan. Some of my fondest memories as a teacher go back to the times Dan and I spent at that old Junior High. Although Dan's life was shortened he lived life to the fullest and always with a positive attitude. This was the type of approach to life he always instilled in the kids he coached. Just days before his passing we spoke of our good ole days at the junior high and our many victories on the court and the track. Dan was a true friend and I will miss him greatly. He was an inspiration. God bless you and all of Dan's family. Thomas Rone

I had Mr. Toney as a teacher many years ago and more recently two of my children had him as well. We also were part of the same church family. He was a wonderful person and a great role model. His strength and courage was sustained thoughout his battle. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. Please take comfort in knowing how many were touched by your loved one.

Coach Toney was an excellent teacher/coach. I was a member of his Cabell County championship team in 1979 at BJHS. Coach Toney was also my track coach the same year. I always admired the time and effort that he put into coaching and teaching. He was a true friend. I will always have the book as a reminder of his witty personality.

I just wanted to pass along my condolences for the Toney family and his friends. I had the privilege of playing basketball and running track for Coach Toney at Barboursville Junior High. I was the captain of Coach Toney's first team at BJHS and had a blast playing for him. I also loved the two years I ran track for him. Coach Toney was a great person to be around and I know he will be missed.

Bill, Laura, and Jeff_I am so sorry for your loss. I remember all of the nights Dan, Jeff, and I played basketball over at the Mormon Church. Those were the best of times. I will miss Dan. I have often thought about him over the years and wished we could have stayed in contact more after our ball playing days were over. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. May God bless and please accept my deepest sympathy. Randy

I had Mr. Toney for homeroom and math in junior high many years ago. He was a great teacher and just an all around nice man. He touched the lives of so many. My deepest condolences to his family.

I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to Mr. Toney's family. I never got the priviledge to meet him but my daughter went to Milton schools all her life until this year. She is in the 8th grade and I have to say that she has spoken very fondly about Mr. Toney over and over. He was one of her very favorite teachers, the short time she had him. This has been a sad time for her and all the children that had the opportunity to be taught by such a nice man. I'm very sorry for you loss.
