Ronald Lee Nicely, 69, of Proctorville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock. He was born December 18, 1941, in Salt Rock, WV, a son of the late Hayward Hefner Sr. and Ethel Nicely Hefner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam. He retired from Air Gas. He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Nicely, and infant baby, Rondal Nicely. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Nancy Nicely of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, and McKenna; three sisters, Judy Porter (Greg) of Barboursville; Tammy Hutchinson (Scott) of Milton; and Brenda Thornton (Connie) of Huntington; one brother, Hayward Hefner Jr. of Huntington; special niece Misty Beckett; special great-niece, Jamie Woodard; and special friend Sherry Roberts of Gallipolis, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holland Home Foundation, 2100 Raybrook Street, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

Sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He and Melva Kay were like an uncle and aunt to my sister Becky and me. I remember Ron always smiling. He will be missed.

Iam sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I work out of the fire protection division. He would rarely eat lunch but he would always say if you go get lunch I'll buy. Ron had more knowledge of welding than anyone I knew.
