Hedrick Owen Bledsoe Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1922 - 2011 HEDRICK OWEN BLEDSOE, of Huntington, W.Va., blessed 88 years, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2011. He was born May 18, 1922, to Hezikiah and Ruby Morrison Bledsoe. He joined the U.S. Army in January, 1943, and served on Guadalcanal until his discharge of January, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to work with the C&O Railroad until retirement in October, 1982. Hedrick received salvation and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church at the age of 31, serving the church for 57 years. He married Jewel McMellon on November 3, 1943. To this union Gary Owen was born February 24, 1947. Gary married Karen D. Weatherholt on September 3, 1966. They have three children, Lorrie Marie Bailey, Fredrick Owen Bledsoe and Tammy Jo Wade. There are seven grandchildren, Anthony Bailey, Khristofer Bailey, Chyenne Bledsoe, Alexis Bledsoe, Isiah Bledsoe, Michael Wade and Jordan Wade. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville and after 10 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Davis and Pastor Daniel Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, W.Va. Peace be with you Jewel. Sorry for your loss. The two of you have been for me, life long friends. So fond our are memories for making hard candy, french dressing and other crafts at your kitchen table. Bless you Jewel. Rock.
