 Richard Lee Sawyers, 71, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. He was born March 16, 1939, in Cabell County, a son of the late Kermit Sawyers and Ruth Mae Elkins Sawyers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Kermit Sawyers Jr. and sister, Sandra K. Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith Dawn Perry Sawyers; two daughters, Teresa (Jack) Mannon and Pamela Parks; one son, Richard Lee (Anissa) Sawyers Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Mers; three brothers, Gary (Bonnie) Sawyers, Roger (Anita) Sawyers, and Kevin Leroy (Connie) Sawyers; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. |

I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I wanted to share something though that has brought me much comfort. Jehovah promises us in John 5:28,29 that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". What a wonderful promise to those who have lost loved ones. Ecclesiates 9:5 says the dead are "conscious of nothing". But when they are resurrected we will be able to welcome them to a world as described at Psalms 37:10.11 and Isaiah 65:21-23. I hope you are able to read these verses in your own Bible. My respects to all your family.
