Burnette M. Updyke, 93, of Parkersburg, formerly of Huntington, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born November 20, 1917, in Mechanicsburg, Virginia, a daughter of the late Arthur and Maggie Stanley Melvin. She is also preceded in death by her husband Albert Updyke; one daughter, Nancy Carolyn Updyke. She is survived by one daughter, Gayle Girdler; three grandchildren, Tom L. Girdler and his wife Debbie, David Bowman and his wife Debra and Anita Fitzpatrick; four great grandchildren, Sara Fitzpatrick, Deidra Bowman, Mallory Girdler and Gracie Girdler; four sisters, Georgia Eaton, Nellie Hale, Sue Harner, Ethel Jones and Jean Donaghy.
