
Julia Ann Brooks, 98, of Milton, WV, formerly of Titusville, FL., passed away May 24, 2011, at Midland Meadows. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, by Rev. Dr. John Sauvage and Rev. Ralph Sager. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born February 20, 1913, in Columbus, OH, a daughter of the late Evert M. Peoples and Mable (Martin) Peoples. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hancock Brooks, son, John Hancock Brooks Jr., sister, Claren Martin Peoples, and brothers, Edward Moray Peoples and Charles Wybrecht Peoples. She is survived by two daughters, Claren Brooks (Jack) Perkins of Milton and Martha Ann Brooks (Sam) Casne of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren, Julia Ann Krueger (Linc) and Lynn Chance (Brandon), of South Riding, VA, Elizabeth Vallance (Ryan) of California, John D. Andrews (Kasey) of Richmond, VA, and Samantha B. Casne of Seattle, WA; two step grandchildren, Brad Perkins of Palmyra, VA, and Lori Crabtree of Huntington, WV; twelve great grandchildren, Carlton, Luke, and Katherine Krueger, Andrew and David Vallance, Anna and Matthew Chance, Mark Andrews, Katelin, Jessica, and Savannah Perkins, and Ethan Crabtree. Julia Ann was a graduate of Huntington High School and Marshall College where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She attended Huntington Business College and upon graduation worked as Mr. Andersons personal assistant at the Anderson Newcomb Company. She moved with family as her husbands job necessitated and when he retired she made her home in Florida for 40 years where she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church serving as an elder, NASA wives club and golf club member. She moved back to Huntington in 2002 to live with family. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Saturday at the church. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.
