Frederick AndersonFrederick Anderson, 75, of Barboursville, WV, passed into his Lords welcoming arms on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Huntingtons Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 23, 1936 in Cabell County, Fred was the son of the late James Anderson and Mary Evelyn Smith, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Harry and Leona Smith of Barboursville. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda. Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, Shirley Vance Anderson; one son, Robert D. Anderson and his wife, Carla of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Randall Bias (Kenda) of Wilmington, Delaware; one sister, Sheila Fulks (Raebert) of Barboursville; grandchildren, Terri D. Anderson of Greenville, SC, Robert D. Anderson II, Brandi Anderson and Nickie Anderson, all of Fayetteville, NC; four step grandchildren, Somer Edwards, Erin Franco, Stuart McLaney and Michael Hymes and their families, all of NC, eleven great grandchildren; a special nephew, Eric Vance of Barboursville; a very dear and special aunt, Eva Mae Vickers of Delaware, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who loved him dearly and will miss him deeply. A lifelong resident of Barboursville, Fred served his country in the US Army in the early 1960s. He worked and retired as an electrician at M& G Polymers (previously Goodyear Tire and Rubber) in Apple Grove, WV. Fred regularly visited the sick and hospitalized, freely gave of his time and energy to help others in need, and truly cared for his family and his community with a quiet, humble, gentle and loving spirit. For that he will most be remembered. He was also pastor of Hash Ridge Baptist Church in Barboursville where he and Shirley had attended most of their lives. The family will receive friends at the Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, WV, on Monday, June 20, 2011, beginning at 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon at White Chapel Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Richard Black and Rev. Ralph Cazad presiding. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV, 25709, in Freds name. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.

Papa, I love you so much and I will never stop missing you. Ever since I could remember, you have been the best man I have ever known. I do not know another man that gave so selflessly and asked nothing in return. You have taught me how to have honor and be humble. I have prayed everyday since I first wen't to church to hear you spread the gospel. That is only one of many things that you have inspired me to aim for. Every part of me that is good came directly from you and Grandma. I can only hope to continue your legacy. Best believe I have a long way to go to fill your shoes. I am so lucky to have Grandfather like you and Grandmother like Nanny. I am so sad but I treasure the time I had with you. It makes me so happy and proud to have the Anderson name. Grandma misses you so much and as a family we will always be there for her. I will be there for her more than I have before. We all miss you and we are so lucky to have been graced by your presence.

Dearest Shirley, Bobby and Family, I think it is only fitting to post a scripture in Freddies honor: Psalms 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit. I know your hearts are broken but pray precious memories of your sweet one will ease your pain. I can only imagine the joy he has as he looks upon the Beauty of Heaven and his Saviour's Sweet Face. I love you all....

Shirley, was I shocked and saddened to see where Fred has passed away. What stands out in my mind about you two is how faithful you were together to visit the sick and shut-ins. You had a wonderful ministry and have certainly been a blessing to others. You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. Judy Abbess
