1923 - 2011
 Luther Edward Kirby, 88, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Buddy Muncey. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. He was born February 26, 1923 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Lonzo Lonnie Kirby and Nell Clark Kirby. He was retired from the Corps of Engineers, was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, and was a US Army veteran and Navy Reserve veteran having served in World War II. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Alice Moore Kirby; two daughters, Karen (Ted) Caldwell of Ona, WV, and Laura McFann of Kenova, WV; two sons, Steve Kirby of Huntington and Edward Dale (Vicki) Kirby of Aberdeen, NC; six grandchildren, Rick (Melissa) Caldwell of Richmond, VA, Melissa (Gene) McComas of Ona, WV, Christy (Christian) Harshbarger of Wilmington, NC, Brad (Adelene) Kirby of Charlotte, NC, Brian Kirby of Houston, TX, and Dalton McFann of Kenova; and eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Michael, Taylor, Chloe, Alexandra, Avery, Cayden and Braelene. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #139 Milton, WV. So sorry to hear that this wonderful person is no longer here. I'm sure that God has a special place for Luther now.It was such a joy to see how much Luther and Alice cared for each other.
