Words can not express how deeply saddened I am. I remember having dance classes with Layra, many school events and classes. She was always such a positive, outgoing, strived to be great, kindred spirited young lady. She will never be forgotten. I will keep the entire Adkins family in my prayers.

Jack, Barb, and Justin. I'm so sorry for your loss! I have been praying for you since I heard. My wife, Stephanie works for Dr. Butler and told me. My memories with Layra are from like 8 years old. I had wonderful times singing with her. I still remember hanging out with her at camp caleb and Church and remembering her studying her Bible. I'm so sorry for your loss, and you are in my prayers. I used to play w/ Layra on Short St. where her babysitter was when we were little. She was always so much fun to be around, and I looked up to her and hoped to one day be as cool as she was. My heart breaks for her family; I can't imagine how hard it is.

My brain just.. won't be creative right now. I don't have anything special to say that will make anyone feel better. I remember the first time I met her, she was sitting on the steps to the stage at Midland and for whatever reason I had my moms cell. She grabbed it and said her foot was smaller than the phone, promptly yanked off her shoe and sock and proved it was. (of course, in our glorious youth the phones were huge) She just completely blew me away that day. Love her. Will miss her.

Finally at peace in the arms of Jesus, Layra Janelle Adkins Frasher, 31, of Barboursville, slipped away on Monday, November 14, 2011. She was born October 4, 1980 to Jackie and Barbara Adkins of Barboursville. She is also survived by two daughters who were her joy Bailey Reese and Brityn Clare of Proctorville; a brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Summer Adkins of Huntington; three nieces, Alexandra, Emmalina and Madelyn; and one nephew, Benjamin. She also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins and grandfather Leonard Adkins. Preceding her were her grandparents, Charlie and Phyllis Black and Ceda Adkins. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Rick Glass.
