1950 - 2011
Suzanne (Susie) Marie Millne, Barboursville, WV died at home with family and friends on November 23, 2011, from complications of the disease, Lupus. Susie was born in Port Huron, MI, to Robert and Gayle Millne. Susie was the second oldest of 4 children: older sister Mary Lynn, and younger brothers, Tim and Rob. Susie's life was an adventure. Her dad was a construction engineer so Susie moved with her parents from project to project that took her to Pennsylvania, back to Michigan, Ashland, Kentucky and Barboursville, WV, where she graduated from High School in 1968. Susie attended University of Delaware at Georgetown and finished her degree at Marshall University in 2001 with a BA degree. Susie was employed by a subcontractor of Ashland Oil, Ashland Construction, where she worked for ten years. She was also a member of Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. Until her death, Susie taught at The Huntington Junior College her dream job and what she loved to do. Susie designed the Medical Coding program and taught Medical Coding for the last 6 years to over 400 students. Susies passion was music. During high school she played with the Fisherman Four, a folk group made up of classmates they even made a tape together. The Fisherman Four played and sang at weekend parties and some class reunions and folk mass on Sundays. It was a Friday night ritual for many years, sitting around Jane's kitchen table singing and laughing until the wee hours of the morning. Susie was an avid fan of the BLIZZARD Hockey Team and THE HERD. Susie attended St. Anns Catholic Church in Chesapeake, OH. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert S. Millne and her mother, Leah Gayle Millne of Huntington, WV; and survived by her sister, Mary Lynn Millne Kirchgatter and her favorite brother-in-law, Kevin of Saint Ansgar, IA; brother Tim Millne and wife Diana of Huntington, WV and brother Rob Millne and wife Rebecca from Kenova, WV; nephews: John Kirchgatter, Brian Kirchgatter, Jason Kirchgatter and Little Rob Millne and "special niece" Kristy Purdue; great- nephews: Ethan and Jaxon; great-niece, Ava; "adopted mom", Jane Thompson; and best friends: Ron Ross, who has always been there for her, Barbara Isaacs and Linda Post. Wallace Funeral Home, 1159 Central Avenue, Barboursville, WV is in charge arrangements. A Funeral Mass will be held on December 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 310 3rd Ave, Chesapeake, OH 45619-1145, with Father Charles Moran and Reverend Craig Coster from Barboursville Baptist Church officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Ross, Robbie Millne, Tim Millne, Kevin Kirchgatter, Rob Millne and Melvin Helmick. The family requests that you join us after Funeral Mass in the church reception hall. At Susies request, please send memorial donations to Brigham and Womens Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115 for Lupus Research or the Ida Mooney Scholarship Fund at Huntington Junior College, 900 Fifth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701, or to St. Ann Catholic Church, 310 Third Avenue, Chesapeake, Ohio 45619 If Susie were here she would say: Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, love the ones who dont, just because you can, believe everything happens for a reason, if you get a second chance- grab it with both hands if it changes your life, let it; hug slowly, forgive quickly, and remember that God never said life would be easy, He just promised that it would be worth it.

I only learned of Susie's passing this week. She is still one of my favorite teachers of all time. I loved being in her classes at HJC and I enjoyed getting to know her outside of the classroom too. Rest in peace Susie - now you are "right there in front of GOD and everybody".

I had no idea until just now. I'm so sorry I was not there to express my condolences. Susie was a great friend to me during my time at HJC and her loss is truly a tragedy. She always had such a positive attitude despite whatever she was facing and she was no pushover!! She was a mentor to me and I cherish all the time I got to share with her.

I unfortunately just was told of Susie's passing. I had her as my coding instructor and she was an amazing person! She taught more than the curriculum she taught us to believe in ourselves, she truly cared about her students and we loved her in return. I have been out of HJC for a long time but everytime I would pass by it I would think of her and how great and funny she was. There is only a handful of people in our lives that can touch our hearts in that way and Susie was one of those people. God made her a blessing for so many of us. God bless you Susie you will be very missed.
