 Gloria Jean Loan, 77, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, by Dr. David Lemming and Phil Newberry. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born March 24, 1934, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Ray and Margaret Flavin Akers. She was a retired employee of St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, with thirty one years of service. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Lloyd W. Loan, Jr.; two daughters, Terri Loan of Lexington, KY, and Tina Hendry and her husband, Gregg, of Barboursville; one son, Jack D. Loan of Huntington; and cousin, Clifford Dudley of Proctorville, OH. The family would especially thank her physician, Dr. Melin Moses, the staff of Heritage Center, Carra from IMCU at St. Mary's Medical Center for their loving care and kindness during Gloria's illness. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2011 after 12:00 noon at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements. I worked with Jean at SMMC for several years. She was a wonderful woman, always kind and eager to help in any situation. I truly loved her. Our loss is heavens gain. I lost my mom in May 2010 so now they are together. My prayers are with you all. Terri

I will always remember your smile when I was introduced to you at Mothers Day brunch in the Huntington Airport. Happiness is displayed in many ways and knowing you were with your daughter that day showed your love of life.
