 Gary Calvin Scites, 62, of Huntington, WV, passed away October 12, 2012, at home after a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, at Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Dr. John Sauvage and Rev. Ralph Sager. Burial will be in Harveys Creek Cemetery. He was born June 17, 1950, in West Hamlin, a son of the late Lester and Lura Hall Scites. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Thompson Scites. He is survived by two daughters, Allison Scites and Alisha Scites, both of Huntington; one sister, Lesta Wiley of Branchland; two brothers, Norman Lee Scites of Bowie, Maryland, and David Michael Scites of Hamlin; and his fishing buddy and much loved grandson, Matthew Smythers. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Steele United Methodist Church P.O. Box 346, Barboursville, WV 25504, or to the American Cancer Society, 611 7th Avenue, Suite 101, Huntington, WV 25701. My heart was sadden to hear of Garys passing.I so appreciated his many evenings he spent with me and my family during the illness and passing of our beloved brother, Lary Porter. During these visits he shared with me the love for his family and his love for his Lord and Savior. Our loss is heavens gain.

I am very sorry to hear the news of Gary passing. I met him in 2006 becoming friends with him until his retirement a few years ago. He always bragged to me about his fishing buddy as he was the same age as my son. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about Gary he was a nice person I worked at steel plant with him. He also worked with my dad Fred who just passed in April . I pray that you can get passed the pain but it will be hard but just remember the LOVE.

We are both so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I went to GV with your dad and he remained a good friend (with the kindest eyes) to both my husband and myself.
