Betty Jane Gravely (nee Wysong), 77, of Elyria, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Life Care Center of Elyria. Betty Jane was an Elyria resident for a total of 17 years and formerly resided in Ona, West Virginia. She was born in Barboursville, West Virginia on March 11, 1936 and was a graduate of West Virginia State University in Institute, West Virginia. Betty Jane was an elementary school teacher for almost 30 years and retired from teaching in 1989. She taught locally in North Ridgeville City Schools and Elyria City Schools. She also taught in school districts in southern Ohio, in both Chesapeake and South Point. Betty Jane enjoyed playing the piano and organ and was the church organist for many years at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia, where she was a former member. Since moving to Elyria Betty Jane was a member of First Baptist Church of Elyria. She is survived by one son, Brent Clay of Avon; 3 grandsons, Joshua, Justin and Jason Clay of Avon; 1 brother, Billy Joe Wysong (Mary), of Anstead, West Virginia and 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Eric Clay. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home, 1159 Central Avenue, Barboursville, West Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 31, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington, West Virginia. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
