Thank you for the opportunities you've given me to have Jeremy in my life. You've brought him and picked him up so that we could spend the weekends together many times. He has and will always be part of me. He was part of my family and I couldn't be more proud to have stories and memories of him. Be proud you had such a great son who touched the lives of many. He has forever left a lasting impact for as long as I live. In my life, he will never be forgotten.

A life cut short but this is not goodbye it is see ya later. Gilk was a friend to all who knew him. He was a loving and caring guy and I was privledged enough to be his friend. We had many laughs during our college days from political discussions to sports. Until we meet again, this is not goodbye but see ya later

Just wanted to tell you that you , raised amazing man. Jeremy was there for me at a really hard time in my life. He text me every day to make sure I was ok or just to make me smile. I will miss him so much. He was so excited and happy when his niece was born. She was all he could talk about. Im so sorry for your family's loss. Prayers for his family and friends may Jeremy RIP.

I met Jeremy during my first year at work with the Upward Bound program at MU. Jeremy and several of his close friends made my job much easier. They were always so kind and helpful. Jeremy always kept in touch with me even though he graduate d years ago. He was a special young man and taken way too soon. May God bless & comfort his family during this terrible time.

Jeremy Keith Gilkerson, 34, of Salt Rock, WV, passed away August 27, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. James Gilkerson and Rev. Darrell Quintrell. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. His tender-hearted and kind spirit was born March 18, 1979, in Huntington, WV, a son of Keith Roy and Kimberly Annette Coleman Gilkerson of Salt Rock, WV. He graduated from Cabell Midland High School and Marshall University. He was an employee of the WV Dept of Highways. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hurston Ray Gilkerson and his maternal grandmother, Josephine Coleman. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Hannah and Brian Baisden of Branchland; very special niece, Kinley; paternal grandmother, Deloris Gilkerson of Salt Rock, and maternal grandfather Ike Coleman and his wife Fern of Salt Rock; several adopted nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts; and his Bulldog Max. Special friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
