1948 - 2013
 Sue Brown, 65, of Huntington, made her journey across the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, October 21, 2013 to be with the Lord, and to be reunited with family members and pets that went before her. She was the founder and President of Little Victories Animal Shelter, and spent her final days in peace at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House knowing that she was about to see her heart dog, Chloe, once again. During the course of her life, she was a school teacher for 15 years and an avid writer of poetry and fiction, even completing a historical romance novel titled Maggie, My Darling. The last ten years of her life were dedicated to the mission of rescuing and caring for animals in the Tri-State area, and in her mind, she could think of no higher calling than devoting herself to the service of animals. She was born September 7, 1948, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Ira John Gue and Nellie Jane Nida Gue. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Redith Mae "Dickie" Burgess and Deloris Wanda Pinkerman, and two brothers, Donald Dwight Gue and Carroll Buford Gue. She is survived by her loving husband Larry Brown; two sons, Thomas Garrett Lucas and Daniel Shawn Lucas and his wife Elizabeth Lucas; one stepson, Jeffrey Brown; two sisters, Lora Hall (Darrius) and Shirley Jordan; one brother, Edward Gue (Dottie); several nieces, nephews, friends and three loving dogs, Gracie, Sammy, Daisey and one cat Scooter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Little Victories at P.O. Box 247, Barboursville, WV, 25504 or online at www.littlevictories.org. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with Rev. David Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Gill Cemetery, Salt Rock. There will be no visitation. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

To all of Sue's family:
My family and I are deeply saddened to hear about Sue's passing. What a wonderful person she was. During our years of teaching together, she had both of my sons, Anthony and Nathan, in her science and geography classes. She taught my daughter-in-law, Cheryl, as well. All three have fond memories of being in her classes and learned a great deal in the process. In turn, I was fortunate in having both of Sue's sons, Shawn and Garrett, in class, too. I use the word "fortunate" because both were cooperative and very good students. Teachers rarely have the opportunity to mingle with one another. Instead, they are usually behind closed doors, in their own little world, making a concentrated effort to educate the future leaders of our country. But when the opportunity presented itself, either before or after school, that Sue and I could talk with one another or laugh together, I always thought her to be highly intelligent, quick-witted, and just fun to be around. Sue Brown truly made this world a better place. My prayers will be with all of you throughout the days ahead.

I am at a loss for words. Because of, and thanks to Sue I was able to adopt two dogs ( Teddi and Captain Kirk) that have brought me so much joy.Sue always made me feel like I was so important and that I was doing so much. As everyone knows, it was Sue that was so instrumental in not only saving the lives of so many unwanted pets, but bringing happiness and contentment to so many people.
I will continue to pray for Sue's family.

Dear Garrett...you may not be able to place me, but I'm a former student @ Salt Rock. I had her for science. She was always so pleasant and caring. And a good teacher. I am sorry to hear she lost her battle on earth. Her rewards will be soon.....Penny

My condolences to the family and friends of Sue Brown for their personal loss of this special person. Her life and what she accomplished on behalf of helpless animals is a testimony to the difference one person can make in this world.
What a reunion it must have been when
her precious Chloe and many furry friends met her at the Rainbow Bridge and they all entered Heaven together!
Sincerely yours,

Larry, family and a host of friends, I send my love. I love the words of Ron and Cocoa Starcher below. Words will never express the sadness I am feeling at the loss of your beloved Sue. Heaven is a sweeter place now and all of her own beloved pets and any from LV over the years were at the Rainbow Bridge to prance across with her never to be separated again. What a wonderful legacy she leaves behind. May God be with all of you now and in the days to come.

Larry, family, and friends;
Words will never express the sadness we are feeling at the loss of your beloved Sue! Many animals owe their very existence to her dedication; and, as a compassionate animal lover, we thank you for sharing her with the rest of us who feel very deeply about the welfare of all animals! No one can ever take her place; but, it is our fervent hope that the void that she leaves will be partially filled by those folks who loved her and respected the wonderful work that she did! Please accept our prayers and most heartfelt condolences at this time of sadness in all of our lives! May God bless and keep you all!

Althought Sue was a neighbor, I just met her about 2 years ago when she rescued my dog that someone in our neighborhood shot. I am very sorry for your loss, she was a very nice person that did a lot of good for this area. She will be remembered by many.

What a beautiful person Sue Brown was - I admire her and loved her for her perseverance in creating Little Victories. Sue's heart is not hurting anymore, because she is in her heavenly home and I am sure she is smiling at all her beloved animals.

After high school I lost track of Susie Gue but my memory of her sitting behind me for many years in home room will never be forgotten. If she had not helped me with Latin, I may still be at Barboursville HS. I would like to pass my regards and sympathy to her loved ones and family in her passing. The Rainbow Bridge has now been crossed and GLORY as arrived for her. Go in Peace and with our Lord. The Grimes Family, Richmond, Virginia

Shawn and Garrett,
I still think of your mom as my aunt. I know that we haven't talked in long time but we are still family. I remember all the holidays at grandmas and how much fun we would have in the summer just goofing off. I want you to know that Kelly and I are praying for you guys.
Love
