I'm so very sorry for your loss. Darrell was a fine young man. I've known Darrell and Phillip for so many years. And have always had the greatest respect for them both! So sorry I wasn't able too make his services. I was out of town. Will be praying for all his family and friends.

Tammy,Philip and Family,

I will cerainly miss Darrell. He was an encouraging person to see at the end of a long day. While I didn't know him really well, it was obvious that he was a kind and very good person. I wish there were far more people like him. His family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I haven't seen Darrel since high school but I remember his kindness and laugh and sense of humor. He liked my jokes and always encouraged. I'm so sorry for the family. I'll be praying that God will comfort you during these difficult days as you walk through this valley and remember his life.

The last time I seen Darell was when he played piano at Dad's funeral. He sure could play the piano. He loved to farm, was wonderful playing the piano. He will be truly missed. God Bless Tammy,his mother Glen Edith, Philip and his family.

I am so sorry that we have lost Darrell! He always had a gentle way about him. We usually passed as I was leaving HMS and he was reporting there! He always had a smile and wave for me!!!!! Darrell Lee Spurlock, 52, of Barboursville, was called Home on Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Marys Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1961, in Cabell County a son of Glen Edith Crum Spurlock of Glenwood and the late Marvin Spurlock. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lewis Bud Childers. He was employed by Putnam County Board of Education. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Tammy Childers Spurlock; one brother, Philip Spurlock and his wife Rosanna; mother-in-law, Shirley Childers Watts and her husband William Gig Watts; sisters-in-law, Ann and Henry Swann, Robin and Tim Johnson; brother-in-law, Buddy and Stephanie Childers; nieces and nephews, Travis Swann, Sarah Swann, Alex Childers, Kailey Childers, Tristen Childers, Johnathon Childers, Madison Johnson and Maggie Jo Spurlock and a special friend Ivan Black. Friends may visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church on Martin Lane, Culloden with Pastor Kim Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Maupin Cemetery.
