 Joseph Alan Ryder, 59, of Lesage, WV, passed away Monday January 20, 2014 at his parents' home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in the Ryder Family Cemetery. He was born Feb 13, 1954, beloved son of Bob and Othella "Pug" Pridemore Ryder. Joe was preceded in death by his first born, Joseph Alan "Little Joe" Ryder. He is survived by his son, Derek Adam Ryder (Hillary), and his mother, Susan, his grandson, Gage Adam; his daughter, Vanessa Hope Ryder Pauley, (Kenneth), her mother, Kay, and her son, Ryan, and Joe's grandson, Joealan; two sisters, Kim Rayburn (Jack), and Rhonda Hodge (Larry); two brothers, Scott Ryder and Todd Ryder (Jonice); three nephews, David Hanna, Ben and Brad Ryder; three nieces, Brittney Scarberry, Jessica and Tiffany Hodge; nine great nieces and nephews. Joe had a huge heart and would give all he had to anyone in need. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory/wallace.

Joe was such a sweet man with a heart of gold, I only knew him for about 5 years, but I can honestly say I don't think I had known a better person than Joe was.. He will be great missed!

I always find comfort in the scriptures when my heart is breaking. One of my favorites is from Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. May God Bless my family with comfort and peace.
