1938 - 2014
Edna R. Bertie Mayes, 76, of Milton, WV, went home to be with her Heavenly Father April 25, 2014. Bertie was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Elden Carpenter and her husband, Daniel K. Mayes. She is survived by her sons, Ron Mayes and his wife Kim and Ricky Mayes and his wife Barbara. Also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley and Cody, all from Milton; her sisters, Erma Jean Meadows and her husband Eugene Meadows and sister Anna Mae Fields; niece Lisa Wallace; and nephews David, Timmy and Scott Meadows and Randy Fields. Bertie lived her life with one goal in mind and that was to see her Lord and Savior and be reunited with all of her loved ones. Special thank you to Sandi Collins, her caregiver, the staff of Cabell Huntington ER and 5 North, the staff of Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House and the numerous friends and family that have offered their love and support during this difficult time. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Mark Hesson officiating. Burial will be in Lunsford Cemetery, Milton. So sorry for your loss. I was in the Lexington, KY area Saturday and only learned of Bertie's passing this morning. You all have been in our prayers these last few weeks and will continue to be. May the Lord grant you peace and a swift healing from the pain of loss.

I've known Bertie since I was little and went to Bedford Church she loved her church family and when she could she was always there serving her lord and savior. Bertie RIP you will be sadly miss.
