
WILLIAM EUGENE CARTER, 78, of Salt Rock, W.Va., peacefully joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, while at the Hospice House of Huntington. He was an active member of Upper Smith Creek Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Houdille Industries. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Corbett and Irene; sisters, Rose Marie and Mildred Carter Darling; brother, George Leslie Carter; and many other much loved family members, who are now rejoicing with him in Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife, Delma of nearly 56 years; his children, Beverly Bailey (Mike) of Salt Rock, W.Va.; Randy (Vicki) Carter of New Vienna, Ohio; Rebecca (Scott) Walker of Tenn., Brian (Lisa) Carter of Branchland, W.Va., and Craig (Melissa) Carter of Salt Rock, W.Va.; nine grandsons, Jeremy and Brad Bailey, Christopher and Derrick Carter, Alexander Lacy, Tyler Carter, Sam Fox, Ben Walker and Luke Carter; five granddaughters, Courtney Clay, Amanda and Victoria Fox, Katie Walker and Hannah Carter; his brothers and sisters, Dorothy Roach (John), Corbett Carter (Virginia), Steve Carter (Debbie), Bernice Scott, Evelyn Surgeon (George), John Bruce Carter (Dianna) and Sharon Brayton (Jack); and a host of nieces and nephews who will dearly miss Uncle Billy very much. His warm smile, joyful laughter, loving heart and storytelling brought much happiness to all that knew him. He will truly be missed by all including his faithful companions whom he loved very much and brought him great joy and comfort. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, W.Va. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Reverend Ron Donahoe and Reverend George Surgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery, Salt Rock, W.Va.
