Laurel Jean Johnson, 86, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 2, 2018. She was born on January 22, 1932, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Norma Hite Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Roger Johnson, to whom she remained devoted even after his death in 1985. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rod Lawhon. She is survived by one daughter, Denise Lawhon of Barboursville; two sons, Mike Johnson (Brenda) of Barboursville, and Dr. Bruce Johnson (Laura) of Bozeman, Montana; one brother, Roy Patrick Boley (Rosale) of Brockton, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren, T.J. Lawhon (Ana), Kari Burdick (Jeff), Sarah Punzalan, Jabin Johnson (Sandra), Michael Johnson, Erin Johnson, Rachael Johnson Izett (Scott) and Ali Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Jewell Sullivan, Marjorie Blankenship and Delores Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of Elmwood Baptist Church for over 50 years and enjoyed serving in numerous ministries throughout her life. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Elmwood Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Glass officiating. Burial will follow in Swann Cemetery, Barboursville, W.Va. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Donations may be made to the Elmwood Baptist Church Missions Program.
