1939 - 2018

Gearld Louis PerryGearld Louis Perry, 78, of Milton, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Genesis Rehab & Nursing Home, Hurricane, WV after a short illness. He was born November 3, 1939, to Hearld and Dorothy Chapman Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Clinton Perry and sister Susie Marie Perry. Gearld was a 1958 graduate of Milton High School. He retired from ACF Industries of Huntington, W.Va., after 35 years of service. He was an active member of Milton Little League for several years, where he touched the lives of many children. He spent many hours mowing, umpiring and taking care of the ballfields. Gearld was a very giving man, who would give you the shirt off his back. One year he even received the WSAZ Hometown Hero Award. He was also crowned the King for the State of West Virginia, one year, by the weight loss group TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for losing more than 100 pounds in one year. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising a garden, as long as his health allowed him to. He is survived by his wife Deloris, the love of his life, just 12 days shy of 56 years of marriage; daughters Karen Shull (Chris) and Deborah Wyant (Mark); four precious granddaughters, Kolby Scarberry (Robert), Logan Conrad (Justin), Taylor Wyant and Lakyn Conrad; two amazing great-grandchildren, Paisley Adkins and Braxtin Shinn; sister, Betty Caldwell; and nephew Allen Caldwell. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. by Pastors Wendell Shull and Don Reynolds at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Wyant-Irwin Cemetery, Milton, W.Va. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Genesis for the great care that Gearld received. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Sorry to receive the news of Gerald's passing. He was a great man who was so nice and friendly. I remember seeing him all the time at the Milton Little League. Praying for his family!
