Lois Meade Viars Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1946 - 2018

Lois Meade ViarsLois Meade Viars, a sweet and loving mother to Andrea Viars Thomas and Nana to Blake Viars-Wilks, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2018 after a long illness. She was born April 3, 1946 to Roy Meade and Tennessee Stepp Meade in Kermit, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, David Viars, and her sister, Irene Perryman. She leaves behind her daughter Andrea Viars Thomas and her husband Steve, and her grandson Blake Viars-Wilks all of Milton, WV, two sisters, Ima Moore of Columbus, OH and Betty Robinson and her husband A.P. of Williamson, WV, one brother, Prentice Meade of Kermit, WV and a host of nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. She retired from Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital with 28 years service and was previously employed at Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital with 17 years service and 5 years service with Rawl Sales and Processing. Lois was a Christian and a member of Highlawn Full Gospel Assembly. Her radiant smile, twinkling eyes and friendly personality brought cheer to all those who met her. She was a terrific mother and grandmother, actively participating in the activities of her daughter and grandson, both of which were the love of her life and the apple of her eye. She was a full time participant in the Band Boosters at Williamson High School and Milton High School in the 1980’s and attended her grandson’s basketball and soccer games throughout his elementary, middle and high school years as her health would allow. She loved and adored her family and spent most of her free time with them. A retired pastor’s wife, she also participated in many church activities over the years including teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church Object Lessons and Vacation Bible School. She was actively involved in the Ladies Groups and frequently cooked and served in the kitchen during church activities and dinners. She loved to sing for the Lord and had been doing so ever since she was a small child, first with her father and siblings, then by herself and with multiple groups and choirs over the years. She spent her entire life serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel and left behind a great testimony and example for others to follow. Lois led a full life and cherished every moment she had. She was loved and will be missed by many, but most of all by her family. Even though her physical presence is no longer here on Earth, we are comforted by the assurance that she is completely healed and singing His praises in Heaven. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8:30 PM at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV. Funeral will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be after the service will be at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV. The cemetery allows flowers but discards them after 7 days. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made towards her medical expenses on GoFundMe at Lois Viars Memorial Fund, web link gf.me/u/j8ttuf.
