I am so saddened for your, our, loss. Sam was a unique man, gifted with the ability to inspire and motivate people to bring out their best. Sam and I worked together for many years at the WVDOH, first in Parkersburg and then in Charleston. Many memories from those days. A wonderful soul has been taken from us. May God bless the Beverage family with peace and comfort, now and in the days ahead.

I met Sam when he was with Hinkle, and I was with KYTC. I guess we were supposed to be on opposite “sides”, but I can honestly say Sam taught me a lot about building roads. He also taught me a lot about hard work. Even though he was a “boss”, it wasn’t uncommon to see him with a shovel in hand, doing what was necessary to move the project forward. Sam was one of the good ones. I am very sorry for your loss.

I knew Sam from working at the WVDOH & always enjoyed seeing him anywhere anytime unexpectedly at the office. He did a lot for all DOH employees. Every time he would see me he quoted my license number.

My heart and deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Samuel during this difficult time. I know the heartbreak and pain of losing a loved one in death so I wanted to take a moment to share an encouraging scripture that gives me much hope. 1 Corinthians 15:26 "And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing." When we lose someone in death our heavenly Father sees the pain we feel and he promises to very soon do away with this wicked enemy of ours once and for all. And then he promises the most beautiful hope, to bring back to life all our dear loved ones and to reunite them with us again! What a beautiful promise of comfort and hope and how we long for that truly special day so close at hand.
