1955 - 2018
Steven Roy Hodges went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 18th, 2018, at the age of 63, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on March 15, 1955 in Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hodges and his mother, Mary (Libby) Hodges and a sister, Marsha Hodges. He is survived by his precious daughter, Jamie Lynn Hodges, his sister, Sherry (Jim) Gallaher, of Georgia. A niece, Tracy Caldwell, a niece, Shelly Knight (Adam) of Georgia. A great niece, Ashley Caldwell, a great niece, Savannah Knight and a great nephew, Noah Knight, as well as a long time friend, David Carlyle. Steve proudly served his country as a Corporal in the Army. He was a Military Police/K9 dog handler. Military Services were held at Forest Memorial Park. Debbie Shockley, a cherished friend of 35 years read one of Steve's favorite Scriptures: Isaiah 61:3 Which reminds believers that when they praise God this removes their heaviness of heart. She also reminded us of his love of Woodstock and that he was truly a "hippie" at heart. Adam, his nephew-in-love, spoke from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 about the hope we have as believers who have died. He spoke on his quick witted sense of humor, the laughter and fun Steve brought to our family and how much we will miss him now and in the days to come. But we are confident we will spend eternity with him in heaven. We feel so blessed and thankful that we have all the wonderful, priceless memories to cherish until we see him again in heaven.

Every night I wonder where you are, why you don't try to reach me; why we can't drive the back roads all night under a full moon.... One day.... Here's a yellow rose.... ??

You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If Love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In Life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

The wild and windy night, that the rain washed away; has left a pool of tears, crying for the day....
Everyday you live in my thoughts, two years on, and always.
Love and miss you.....

Only we know. One yellow rose....
So, we'll go no more a roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.
For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.
