1938 - 2018
David Lee Wall departed this life surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Saturday, December 29, 2018 after his three-year battle with cancer. He was 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Pansy Jimison Wall, as well as two brothers, Kenny and Mike, two sisters, Barbara Moore and Ethel Hodges, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Wall. He is survived by two sisters, Shirley (Nolan) Webb and Nancy Doak. He is also survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn; six children, Randall (Jana) Wall, Robert Wall, Ben (Trina) Wall, Leah Ferguson, Laura Lewis (Patrick), and Beth (Wes) Gordon; two special “sisters”-in-law, Carmel (Guy) Porter and Michelle (Ronnie) DeJarnett, as well as 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was a lifelong member of Elmwood Baptist Church in Martha, WV and retired from Special Metals in 1997. As a young man, he raced boats on the Guyandotte River, worked on cars and gardened. While raising six children, he also worked at Sears and Spurlock’s Flowers but always found the time and resources to pack the family up and go camping at Sherwood Lake every year. Dave also loved to hunt and did so every year during the week of Thanksgiving. After retirement, Dave remained active. When he wasn’t helping his mother-in-law, Thelma “Mee-Mee”, he was cutting grass or traveling to see grandkids with Carolyn. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. January 2, 2019 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Rick Glass and his grandson, Pastor Nathaniel Wall. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpine Bible Church, 310 East State Street, Lehi, UT 84043 or to Gideon’s International. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

I'm so blessed to have known Dave. Other than my own parents, he and Carolyn probably had the most impact and influence on my life growing up in church at Elmwood. I have no doubt that he heard "Well done, good and faithful servant" as he was welcomed into Heaven. I pray for peace and comfort for his family during this time of loss for them.
