Susan Kegley CarterSusan Kegley Carter, 73, of Milton, W.Va., passed away peacefully January 30, 2019 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton by Pastor Kim Miller. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born March 31, 1945 in Pineville, W.Va., a daughter of Effie and Estil Kegley. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Marshall University and worked at Lawrence County General Hospital as laboratory manager/medical technologist. She later received her Master's in Business Administration and served as office manager for Pathology Services Group (later University Pathologists and Surgeons) in Huntington, W. Va., until retirement. Susan was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ironton, Oh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Carter, and her brother, Fred (Ted) Kegley of Como, TX. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jay Hamvas of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Sean and Lisa Carter of Milton, W.Va., and Matthew Carter of Milton, W.Va., and four grandchildren, Alexis, Amelia, Sean Wesley and Jackson Carter; and sister, Anna Mae Rose of Jackson Springs, N.C. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.alz.org.
