I came to Marshall for the fall semester 1970 when Steve was finishing his physics degree program. I got to talk to him some outside of class. He came across as totally honest and to the point of any conversation. As a new faculty member in physics I got to know Steve and to appreciate his honesty and sense of humor. He was in Viet Nam during some of the most ugly conflicts. He seemed to have adapted to that ugly part of his life with a level head. I very much regret his passing.

Steve was one of my students shortly after I came to Marshall as a Physics faculty member in fall 1970.I had great respect for Steve based on his work in the classroom and on his totally honest and direct conversation outside of class. He had a sense of humor that entered into his conversation about himself. Steve was in Viet Nam during some of the most brutal fighting but he seemed to come away from it with a level head. I have tremendous respect for him.
I apologize for the late statements but have been out of town. Ralph

Such sad news to receive. I knew him as Curtis. I was a Staff Sgt and he was in my squad in Vietnam. I had the pleasure of seeing him several times over the past few years. I worked on him for years before he finally came to a reunion. I chatted with him just last month asking if all was well. He said he was dealing with anxiety attacks and was hoping to return or get back to a reunion in the future. I wish I could pay my respects in a matter other than an email. I was up in Washington visiting my son this week and just got home today. Just know I had great admiration for your husband and as a dad. He was a great Soldier and I was proud to have him in my squad as a rifleman. My blessings to the family

The definition of a gentleman. I consider myself very fortunate to have known Steve professionally.
We only saw each other occasionally, but he was always ready to share his knowledge and experience.
I will think of him when I have dessert at my next business dinner.

Great friend, and a business leader.
Loved his God, his family, his country, and always challenged himself at work to improve.
A true gentleman who enjoyed golf and fishing.
I will miss our times together.
