1947 - 2021

Corma RossBorn on September 30, 1947, Corma (Carmie) Lee Ross was the 6th and youngest child of James Roscoe and Ever Fay Ross. He spent much of his youth on country roads in the hills of Salt Rock, West Virginia with siblings Rachel, Shirley, James, Gene and JoAnn. As a teenager in the mid 1960s, he was interested in building hot rods and racing cars. Drafted into the military at 19, Carmie served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was attached to the 2nd Battalion 18th Infantry Regiment with the Big Red One where he was awarded the Army commendation medal and bronze star with “V” device.

An electrician by trade, Carmie retired early to spend more time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to see his Veteran Brothers twice a year during their annual reunions. He collected American Indian and American Eagle artworks and He could often be found practicing his late-night NCIS religion.

Stubborn enough to beat the odds, Carmie was a 2-time cancer survivor and a combat war veteran. His fight ended peacefully on November 10, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his loving companion Amy Smith and by his sisters Rachel Boucher and Shirley Berry and by his brother James Ross.

Carmie is survived by his 3 children, Deidra, Derick and Cortney Ross and 1 grandson Gabriel Ross as well as his sister JoAnn Collins and his brother Gene Ross.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, WV. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Wounded Warrior Project. https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate

My sincerest condolences to dear Deidra, Derick, Cortney and all family members of Carmie. While I’ve never met him, I have heard many stories of his life and character, and of the love he shared with Deidra that has shaped her. He is a true fighter. May he Rest In Peace.
