David Wilson Forinash Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1943 - 2022

David Wilson ForinashDavid Wilson Forinash of Culloden, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022 at the age of 79. David leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Linda Shelton Forinash and as he always considered it his greatest accomplishment, his daughter, Sara Beth Hubbard (Robert). He also leaves behind step-grandchildren, Ashton, Caden, and Clowie, along with a brother-in-law, Oran Trimble and a nephew Rusty Trimble. David was proud to be a 7th generation West Virginian. He came from hard-working people who helped in establishing the state. Preceding him in death were his mother, Alice Rosencrance Forinash, a farmer’s daughter and his dad, Woodrow Wilson Forinash, a coal miner. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sheila Forinash and Sherry Forinash Trimble. David had many uncles, aunts, and cousins that worked the land as loggers, miners, and farmers around Randolph County. David was able to escape the hard and dangerous work of his ancestors because of Coach Robert Scholl of Scott High School who helped him obtain a football scholarship to Marshall University from 1960-1964. It was that scholarship that began his love of M.U. David was a loyal Herd fan contributing both time and money in many roles. Upon graduation, David worked for the West Virginia Department of Welfare as a social worker. Later, David played various roles in the Department - Director of Assistance Payments, Assistant Comm. of Economic Services, and Assistant Comm. of Medical Services. David spent two years as the Administrator of Sacred Heart Hospital in Richwood, WV. He loved the work and the people of Richwood. After Sacred Heart sold, David moved to St. Francis Hospital in Charleston. He ended his career at DHHR as Deputy Secretary to Commissioner Joan Ohl. Even though David’s health forced him into retirement, he still volunteered on many boards such as Prestera and Cammack Children’s Center. He was always caring for West Virginians. David would want to thank the doctors and staff (Dr. Haas, Dr. Augostini, Nurse Rachel) at Ross Heart Hospital at Ohio State for extending his life over 25 years. A celebration of David’s life will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Milton, at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 with Pastor Bob Hogsett officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. The family requests that all CDC Covid 19 guidelines be followed at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about David's passing. He was such a special man and my parents just adored him. They always spoke so highly of him and I will always have fond memories of him when I would visit my dad at the office. He'll be missed, but his influence and memory will stand the test of time. Linda & Forinash Family, So sorry to learn of David’s passing. David was a great person and I feel blessed to have known him since I was a young boy. His family and our family were very close. His father was like a “father “ to me and Sherry was a classmate all through high school. I still remember the day when Dave got his scholarship offer from Marshall. We were all so excited and proud !! Dave distinguished himself as an effective hard- working administer who always exhibited integrity and kindness. Later in my life David and I reconnected when I moved to Huntington and subsequently ended up being his physician. David will be missed but I have many good memories.

What a loss! Sally and I want to express our condolences to Lind and the entire Forinash family. I first met David in 1969 as we travelled from Huntington to Charleston for work. From that time until I retired from the state in 1998 I enjoyed a wonderful relationship with him…as a co-worker, a fellow golfer, and as a good friend. The world has lost a great light.

Linda & Family David and I started at Marshall the same year and became teammates for the duration. Dave always had the same positive outlook when our teams were down or doing well. David & Linda gave my mother special love and attention in her later years. No words can express our appreciation. Our friendship has lasted over 60 years and it has been an honor to call him friend. May God grant Dave eternal rest and may Linda and family find comfort and peace. Rest in peace my friend. Terry & Jan Childers

Dear Linda and family, We will miss cousin "Butch" for his love and kindness to all and continuous cheerful attitude. Our mother enjoyed his phone calls, visits and love of family. We always admired his continual love of family, no matter how much older everyone became or how much he had going on in his own life. David was loved by all who knew him and our prayers and sympathy go to his family as they go through this difficult time. David lived through many hard times physically, but continued to enjoy life and travel with Linda. He was an example to us all. We loved him and he will be greatly missed.
