Mabel Kathleen Wood Shrout 90, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away on December 13, 2022 after a long illness.
Kathleen was the daughter of Edna L. and Joseph B. Wood of Hurricane WV. She is survived by sisters Janet J. Hamerick of Hurricane and Janis J. Vosper of Hillsboro OH. Husband George A. Shrout preceded her in death, along with brothers Jessie E., Leslie P., Alriai C., Chester C. Wood and sisters Reba A. Barrett, Ruby P. Racer Byrd, Dorothy J. Carpenter, Doris Iva J. Stratton, and Linda L. Monk.
She began her career as a secretary for WV State Government and Williams College, before becoming a computer programmer for IBM. Kathleen enjoyed traveling and sewing. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Charleston, WV.
A short graveside ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hurricane. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
