Robert "Bob" Lee Legg Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1939 - 2023

Robert Robert “Bob” Lee Legg, 83, of Milton, WV, left his earthly home Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after his battle with cancer. He was born October 8, 1939 in Milton, WV to the late John and Erma Legg. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda McComas Legg. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and David Kinner of Culloden, WV; a son, Mark Legg of Milton; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and David Casto; three grandchildren, Amber and Kyle Duncan, J. T. Saunders (Maddy Moore) and Marcus Legg; two great-grandchildren Zayden and Alayia; sister-in-law Nancy Cargill; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

He was retired from C & O Motors and currently served as a councilman for the City of Milton.

Besides his family, his next love was the Milton Volunteer Fire Department. Bob spent most of his life giving back to his community. He joined the fire department at the age of 16 years old. He served in every function of the fire department including Chief and Assistant Chief. Bob had the distinguished honor of being the longest serving active member of the Milton Volunteer Fire Department. In May 2019, the department dedicated the station in his name in honor of his service to them since 1955. Bob loved the fire department and all their members – past and present. Until his recent illness, you could always find him at the station almost every day taking care of the many details involved in the working of the station.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be conducted at Milton Cemetery on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a memorial service held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Matias Valsecchi and his nursing staff and the staff at St Mary’s Outpatient Infusion Center for their care during his treatments, as well as the nursing staffs at both St. Mary’s Medical Center on the 4th floor and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their compassion and care they provided. Also many thanks to all the friends that called, texted or visited to check on Bob.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Milton Volunteer Fire Department in Bob’s name, 341 E Main Street, Milton, WV 25541.

Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Bob was a kind and gentle man, generous with his time Milton VFD and the surrounding areas. He was a mainstay at the fire department, always ready and willing to answer whatever was needed. I will miss him very much. Since I started in the fire service in 1985, he has been a friend and mentor to me. RIP Brother. We will take it from here. Love you!
