Rhonda Lynn Barker, 66 of Huntington, passed away on October 29, 2023. Rhonda was born December 17, 1956, a daughter of the late James Thomas Wyatt and Dorothy Louise Wyatt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Randy Dale Barker; a sister, Mary Wyatt; and a brother, Gerald Wyatt. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kelly (Barker) Golice; son-in-law, Jarrod Golice; and two grandchildren (Issac Barker and Amelia Golice) whom she adored. She is also survived by three brothers, Richard Wyatt, Jimmy Wyatt (Linda), and Chuck Wyatt (Teresa) all of Huntington. Also surviving are three sisters, Roma Bartee and Connie Wyatt, both of Huntington and Judy Howard of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. In addition, Rhonda was survived by a large extended family consisting of many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as a close friend who was like a sister, Diana Browning, along with numerous other friends. Also surviving is her companion, Melvin Kinnard.
Rhonda was an alumna of Huntington East High School. She had an amazing work ethic and had various occupations over her lifetime, one of which included baking in several different local bakeries. She also worked as a caregiver and worked in the service industry as well. Rhonda took pride in her work but what she was most proud of in her life was being a mother and grandmother. She never stopped boasting about her grandchildren to everyone. She loved them and her daughter very much.
Rhonda was an outgoing and sociable person who liked making new friends. She made a new friend everywhere she went. Anyone who knew her, knows that she did not know a stranger. She would talk to anyone and everyone. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed dancing and loved music. She had a great sense of humor and always appreciated a good joke and a laugh. Rhonda was also a good cook who especially enjoyed baking desserts for her family. Rhonda also loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her granddog and grandcat. Rhonda was a person of faith. She was a member of Beverly Hills Church of Christ and visited various churches as well.
Her passing was much too soon. We all assumed we had many more years to spend with her, but as she often said “Life is short, we are not promised tomorrow.” Rhonda was very loved and will remain within our hearts until we meet again. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Tim Arthur officiating; graveside service to follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, November 3, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
