We were so sorry to hear of Irvin's passing. We enjoyed many conversations when he stopped in the bookstore, and he was an encourager during our daughter's mission to become a teacher. He will be greatly missed until we meet again in heaven. Your family will be lifted up in prayer during this time of separation.

I’m heartbroken to learn of Mr. Scarberry’s passing. As a kid I looked up to him as a well rounded role model - husband, father, teacher, choir director, Sunday school teacher, the list goes on. He was a great man.

Irvin was among the most generous and amazing human beings I ever met. I didn't realize it for some time, but he, even though he was never personally my teacher, was one of the biggest influences on me entering education. He will be greatly missed and I my thoughts are we you both, Nellie and Chris.

To Chris and Mrs Scarberry: I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Scarberry was a very influential mentor in my life. If it were not for his guidance, I would not be a teacher today. He encouraged me every step of the way and I am forever grateful. I will miss his nuggets of wisdom to take to the classroom. Prayers for you all during this time.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the word “gentleman” was invented for Irvin. His life of caring and giving was a model for us all. Rest in peace, my friend.
