1946 - 2025

Darla Dean SturgeonDarla Dean Sturgeon, 79, of Lesage, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by the comfort of her home and family.

Born May 1, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Mabel Bowman. Darla dedicated many years of hard work at Alcon in the Cutting Department before her retirement. She was also a faithful member of the Glenwood Church of Christ, where she built lasting friendships and lived out her strong faith.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Judy Vititoe and Earlene McComas; her sister-in-law, Linda Conrad; and her nephew, Kelly Conrad.

Darla leaves behind a lifetime of love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert “Bob” Sturgeon; her son, Troy Sturgeon; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sturgeon. She will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Karen Bowman and Geraldene Chapman; her brother, Dwayne Bowman; and her sister-in-law, Brenda Stover.

She was the proud grandmother of Jared Sturgeon (wife Summar) and Ciera Sturgeon and the adoring great-grandmother of Gunnar and Remi Sturgeon. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Valerie Stanley, David McComas, Bret Vititoe, Tracy Chapman, Tara Arrington, Terry Bowman, Eric Conrad, Dustin Stover and Summer Stover; as well as many more great-nieces and great-nephews: Travis Bowman, Tabitha Duff, Jacob, Tyler & Cayden Vititoe, Briar Arrington (children Brylee, Gavin, & Wrenlee), Madisyn, & Tristyn Arrington, Wrylie Conrad, Anna & Andrew Duff, Jonah & Ella Stover, and her honorary grandson, Travis Bailey—all of whom were touched by her kindness, and unwavering love.

Darla will be remembered for her faith, her warmth, and the way she poured herself into her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine through the lives of those who were blessed to know her. Her love was boundless; she was a Mum to all.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Ernie Bowser officiating. Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery, Glenwood, WV.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
