
Rodney Dallas Adkins, 79, of Barboursville, WV, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Rodney was born in Wilsondale, WV on June 5, 1946 to the late Dallas and Edna Adkins. He was a 1964 graduate of Lenore High School and a graduate of Marshall University, where he received his master’s degree in Education. He was a Social Studies teacher at Huntington High School, and later, a Technology Specialist for Cabell County Schools. He retired from the Cabell County Board of Education in 2009. He was the ultimate host and his parties at “Mantown” were legendary. Rodney was married to his high school sweetheart, Karen (Chafin) Adkins. Together they shared a lifetime of love. His most cherished accomplishments were his children, Dwight Adkins (Shannon), Derek Adkins (Jamie), and Jill Roberts (Jeff), his grandchildren, Evan Adkins, Morgan Burton (Larry), Olivia Roberts, Isabella Adkins, Heidi Adkins, Parker Roberts, and Briggs Adkins, great-granddaughter, Oakleigh Mae Burton, dog, Buddy Adkins, and countless loved ones and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings, Frank Perry, Sherman Perry, and Eva Lee Pygman. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Mark Boyd. Burial will be in the Maple Hill section of Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
