Harold  MerrittHarold "Buddy" Merritt, 93, of Barboursville, passed away January 25, 2026. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Elder Charles Berry and Pastor Lennie Romans. Burial will be in Eplin Cemetery. He was born June 23, 1932, in Wayne County, a son of the late Willie and Mable Merritt and mother, Florida Adkins Merritt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Ella Eplin Merritt; his second wife, Deloris Jean Bias Merritt; daughters, Colleen Pinson and Judith Lynn Foster; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Dale and Teresa Berry; granddaughter, Angela Anderson; grandsons, Joshua Foster and David Woods; and son-in-law, Robert Foster. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Creech (Leo) of Barboursville; sons, Charles Berry (Debbie) of Salt Rock, Brian Merritt of Barboursville, Greg Merritt (Michelle) of Durham, NC and Dean Berry (Susan) of Midlothian, VA; sisters, Willodean Bing of Huntington, Hope Gilkerson of East Lynn and Barbara Ackinson (Larry) of Huntington; brother, Freddie Merritt of Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren, Tim, Rachel (Luke), Nathan (Lexi), Byron, Shelena (Rocco), Candias (Stacey) Stephen (Shelley), Diana, Sam, and Max; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
